Sadao Watanabe: Boat in the Storm

Christ in Boat with Disciples by Sadao Watanabe, 1981.

Here's a wonderful image by Sadao Watanabe over at Artway, with an accompanying visual meditation by Sandra Bowden.  Not only is this a beautiful work of art by the Japanese artist, but it's also part of an upcoming traveling exhibition and exhibition catalog by CIVA (Christians in the Visual Arts).  And, for me, the last paragraph of the meditation is a wonderful reminder that Christ is always with us, no matter the storm we're facing, even if we can't hear his voice at that moment.

  1. An amazing picture. I would love to see it during its exhibit. A simply amazing piece of work, and I agree, the message behind it is just as wonderful.

  2. Hello,
And thank you for your comment. It was nice to receive it, and learn of someone else who enjoys reading BAR.
Sadly, no, I've not read the latest editorial in BAR. I missed a few copies as I was in the middle of a move. But I'm going to see if I can find anything online about it. It sounds very interesting. I had heard nothing of the excavated of anything like the Ten Commandments, so it will give me something new to look up and study. Has there been any more word, do you know, on whether they will be returned to Israel?
